Seurasaari 2006

Sähkäri on melkoinen ponnistus. Se ei todellakaan ole mikään hentonen härveli. Sähkäri painaa suunnilleen 75 kiloa. Ja minä toisen mokoman.

I used my electric wheelchair for that trip. And that's rather heavy object: about 75kg (=165.3lb). Lead batteries aren't very light thins!

And I weight about same amount.

Seurasaaren ulkomuseo on jo aika iäkäs paikka. Noin summamutikassa arvioisin ehkäpä sataa vuotta. Ilma oli pikkuisen tihkunoloinen, mutta ei se loppujenlopuksi muodostunut ongelmaksi.

Here's the local Seurasaari museum. There was constantly very serious risk of rain. But that didn't happen. Lucky me...

Sillalta ei saa onkia. Ihan järjetön kielto! Vaikeaa tietenkin arvioida niiden paikkojen "ottavuutta".

Mutta olisihan se turisteille elämys! Kaupunkilaiset kalastavat keskellä kaupunkia. Ja saavat kalaa. Ja jopa syövät ne!

"No angling from bridge". Why? Okay, I don't know, if this place is so good. But that angling is just so Finnish thing. And quite special thing is, that we can catch edible fish this close to city center.

Siellä on kaikenlaisia taloja eri puolilta Suomea.

Niin, tai ilmeisesti ne oli kerätty suunnilleen viimevuosisadan alussa. Silloin kultturelleilla piireillä oli kansalliromanttinen vaihe. Ja tietenkin teollisuusrahvasta piti jotenkin valistaa asiasta. Kun heitä ei voinut panna matkalle maakuntiin, tuotiinkin esimerkit tänne.

In the beginning of last century we had very big phase of nationalism. But problem is, that "normal" workers cannot travel to various parts of this country.

Solution is very simple:bring it here! Buildings (or small groups of them) from different parts of Finland.

Tällainen ruoan säilytysaitta oli kotoisin Pohjois-Suomesta. Ja oikeastaan ihan järkevä ja toimiva. Siellä voivat lihat surutta olla, sudet tai karhut eivät sinne pääse.

Samaan ympäristöön kuuluivat myös asumukset.Siis aivan käsittämättömän pieniä (siis olisikohan tuon onnettoman mökin koko 2x3 metriä). Js siellä on koko lestadiolainen ydinperhe!

Huh! Siihen aikaan ei keskimääräinen elinikä ollut mitenkään huomattavan pitkä. Ja noissa elinoloissa näkyy aika iso osa syytä.

These houses come from extreme northern parts from Finland. That first is really quite nice invention: that's full (hopefully so) of food. And that pole keeps predators (mostly wolves and bears) away.

Then these houses. They look romantic? But think our extreme winter. The temperature is something like -30C. And then there are snow. Maybe two meters or so. That makes very certain, that there are no contacts to other world for about half an year. Just think appendectomy then... Then this house is really small! Something like 2x3 meters!

Löytyi vihdoinkin joku orava. Yllättävän hankala juttu, koska käsittääkseni niitä olisi ihan kasapäin. Olin varautunut niihin, ottamalla mukaani maapähkinöitä. Mutta jos oravat eivät syö niitä, niin Olli-orava syö kyllä...

Squirrels of Seurasaari are quite legendary. They are really extremely tame. And everyone gives food to them. Just like this kid feeds then. I have some peanuts with. And if squirrels don't eat them, then squirrel-Olli eats those...

Tällainen karmea tie johti hanhien luo. Siis ei se näin katsottuna niin kamalalta näytä. Mutta todellisuus oli jotain ihan muuta. Täytyy myös muistaa, ettei sähkärissäni ole minkäänlaisia jousia tai iskunvaimentimia.

This road was really bad for me. Remember, my wheelchair doesn't have any kind of springs or shock absorbers. Ouch!

Olin jo aiemmin ilmaissut mielipiteeni noista paskageneraattoreista. Ja nyt siinä on mukana myös keskenkasvuinen pentu, joka ei ole ollenkaan lentokykyinen. Eikä se muutenkaan ollut mitenkään järisyttävän älykäs. Tyypillistä pullamossasukupolvea: sille on tungettava ruokapalka suunnilleen eteen.

Todellinen ekologinen painajainen!

We have quite many these geese in Helsinki (barnacle goose). They are very rare things - in very northern Finland. Now someone got really bright idea. They put these here. Okay, those birds look really quite nice. But when they have just no enemies. And one can't kill them because they are so endangered species. Just think when a few dozen birds come to Your yard, eat everything and leave a lot of shit.

Real ecological nightmare!

En oikeastaan ymmärrä tämän kahvilan ideaa! Siis miten ihmeessä pyörätuolin kanssa toimitaan tuossa?
